Newquay 2007
Newquay 2007
Rally of the flat tyre...but not a flat rally.
After intending to make an early start it took sometime to get going with not one but two flat tyres on the same bike – unlucky Ashley.

Wet weather on the way down meant we all got a bit damp (not like that George!) but no-one's spirts were dampened and we were all looking forwards to what was for most our first rally of 2007, Celste's first ever and Em's birthday.

When they arrived at the campsite Steve and Em got kidnapped by a Western Morning News reporter and went for a photo shoot on Porth Beach. (You can't deny talent !!) After an hour posing (a cross between james Dean and Tom Cruise apparently!) they only printed one picture and it wasn't of me.

The weather brightened up and by Friday evening the drink was flowing and Jack 'O' Clock was about as regular as a bus - you don't get any for ages and then three come along all at once.

We made it down to the do still upright this year, Mr. Cooper was on the decks doing his stuff and getting people up on the Dance Floor. I will have to stop there can't remember much past that but I think we can say we had a good evening.

Saturday was another good day. Some people went down the parts fair and on the ride out, a few people went into Newquay to watch the F.A. Cup (maybe it wasn't a good day for some of them). Leroy tried breaking the sleeping on a rally World record 19 hours with short comfortbreaks I believe.

We went down to the Bar for the Saturday evening to see Steve Coopers Band 'Unusual Stars'. And once again a good time was had by all.

Sunday and time to go, we were all ready, well most of us, (Chewy we told you) and set off back to Devon. The Curse of the Tyre III; I decided to do a bit of Northern across a duel carriage-way after a blow out. A big thanks to Rob Blake, who we now know does check his mirrors while driving, for spoting the situation and reversing back down the road to help. Simon had a seize just after the Tamar Bridge but got home thanks to those very nice men from the recovery service.

All in all a good weekend, as the Newquay rally always seems to be. Steve
